Door Handle

The left rear door handle on my 2000 E320 SW has come loose. It looks like I'm going to have to remove the inside door panel to tighten the handle. Does anyone know how to remove the panel without breaking anything?

I removed both of the rear door panels on my '96, and both times I had to glue some of the clip supports back to the panel. No permanent damage, however.

But make sure that you need to take the panel off. Removing the lock cylinder from the front door sure looks like you'd have to remove the panel, but you don't.

Is the complete handle loose, or is it some internal parts?

For the complete handle, it is fixed by a single screw at the edge of the door (no. 1 on the drawing).

Have a great day.

You just need to pull away the weather strip at the rear of the door to access a small hole where you can tighten the screw shown in a previous post to tighten the door handle. Inner panel stays on, don't remove it, there is nothing in there to do this!

Screw is shown in the attachment on post #3, it is shown just above part #1
