Purchased 2000 E320, have a few ?'s

We finally decided on the 2000 E320 last Monday. We also bought an extended warranty with it which gives me a little peace of mind. Anyhow I took it to my local MB dealer for a thorough inspection, while I was there they gave me a copy of the VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry). This has a list of codes on it with explanations. What I'm wondering is do all of the codes apply to my vehicle? It says I have rain sensing wipers and the elegance package, of which I knew nothing about. Does anyone know what the elegance package is on our car and how I can tell if we have the rain sensing package? (Yes I know we could tell when it rains...LOL....but that might be a while and I'm curious)

Thanks all,

Dale

I think the Elegance Package might be a standard MBUSA thing for the wood trim, etc, but not sure.
Easy way to tell if you have the rain sensitive wipers: Withthe key on, turn the wiper switch one click in the normal direction, into "intermittent". If the wiper arm sweeps once, then stops, it's rain sensitive, it makes one swipe as a safety feature. After that the sensor will command the sweep as required according to the amount of rain hitting the windshield. You also have the normal low/medium/high speeds.

All the codes do apply to your car. They may be called option codes but technically they are not all extra cost options - more like production codes. The link below may help. Code numbers get reassigned from time to time so it's not always a science.

Enter your VIN at the below site. It will provide the code and description of options that came on your car.

If it's on his VMI I would tend to believe his car has those options.

Dale, next time you're about to wash your car leave the engine running, activate the rain-sensing wiper system and spray some water on the windshield ... then you'll see it in action.
