Replaced ETA, ASR Not Working...

Okay, as some of you know, I just replaced my ETA with a rebuilt unit from 4Mercedes.

The car runs great now (thank goodness). However, I don't think the ASR works; or maybe it works as it should now, dunno. Previously, the triangular international danger sign lit up on the dash everytime my driving from rest was a bit spirited. Today, in slightly wet conditions, I could not get it to light-up and the car seemed to let the wheels spin.

I also pressed the traction control switch and it did not seem to limit a 1st gear full throttle launch (even with a bit of tire spinning).

So, I think it does not work now, but it is also possible that that previous ETA was causing it to be a bit too sensitive. I'm not as concerned with the ASR working properly (I'd rather make throttle and brake decisions on my own, thank you...), but am wondering whether it could have any damaging effects to the vehicle's operation (I don't mean my bad driving...).

Can anyone describe normal operation? Can anyone let me know if this will be a problem?

Thanks,

jk

The ASR should kick in anytime the system senses the wheels are spinning. Are you saying that the system does not activate even when stomping on the throttle with the wheels spinning?

I do not believe you will damage any components driving a non-functioning ASR system.

Part number is 000 141 94 25

Same one went in as came out....

Also, when I said traction control switch I meant the tire chain switch. I don't think I even know the correct operation for that thing. Maybe I should read the manual....

Yes, I got the tires spinning a few times and never saw the usual warning light go on (and the car never seemed to slow).

Gosh it's a fun car to drive!!! Maybe I'll hold on to it afterall....

Seriously, now that I've replaced the harness and the ETA, are there any other big ticket items that are common?
