I've noticed that when I keep my key in the access. position for and extended period of time(listening to the radio),then start the car, I have a very rough idle and a fuel smell(like the car's dumping fuel) can be detected on my clothes afterwards. After driving the car for a few minutes this problem clears up. Can anyone give me any feedbac on what this sounds like? It's a 1986 300E with over 200k mis. on it.

It could be any number of things. See if fuel is leaking to the ground or if you can trace the odor and then check from there.
