w210 e430 driver seat issue !
ok so i've driven the w124 for the longest and love it's seats.
drove an 00 e430 today and while the seats are firmer, the bottom portion has some weirdness to it. it seems like the right portion of the bottom is higher than the left. so after about half an hour of driving feels really uncomfy!! and that aint cool. nothing seems to be broken etc, no popping springs either. anyone else experiencing such problems ?

Sorry I can't comment about the 210s' seats, but will wholeheartedly agree about the 124's seats. I have done many 7 and 800 mile days in the TE with no problems with the seats for sure.

W210 seat frames are crap and break. At one point we owned both a 98 W202 and a 98 W210 and the 210 was pretty disappointing as the materials were no better than our C-Class and the build quality was worse.

I have the pneumatic adjustable front seats in my seats in my 98 E300, that allows for the conditions you describe, dumb question, but is it possible the 2000 E430 you drove has pneumatic seats?
![]() PS, if it does have these, the controls are somewhat centerline, outside the center console on the left and right sides, between the seats and center console on both sides. Paul Last edited by superlite17; 11-13-2006 at 11:31 PM. |

not pneumatic. checked that already.
it's basically that the bottom of the seat is too damn stiff as if there are no springs there at all, on top of that the right side is lifted more than the left half of the bottom making it an uneven surface to sit upon. the car is actually mine now :-D so i really need to figure out a way to make it a pleasureable driving experience. attached is the pic and the area highlighted in red that is higher than the other other half of the seat.

Yes, they are very comfortable seats. If your on the road for a couple hours it's great to change positions by "tightening" the seats up. I can't answer your questions about a seat swap though, for me It seems like a moderately difficult task, for a Benz professional?? The PO of my 98 E300 spent an extra $800 for the Multi-Contour Seatbacks, but did omit heated seats...,oh well,it's still a southern California car, so I rough it without heated seats.

can anyone suggest how much a new seat would cost ? is the dealer the only place to buy or is there an online shop who would sell them ? I'd really like a comfy seat ! anything but what's there right now that feels like bricks !

I've searched the forum but there doesnt seem to be any posts on how to "fix" the springs on the w210. lots of posts regarding the older models though.
has anyone tried it at home yet ?
