Starting problem '98 E320

Wierd starting problem with me 98 E320. About 25% of the time when I start the car it will fire and turn right off. Sometimes it will do this 2-3 times in a row. But, when it starts it is fine. Has anyone heard of this issue, no "check engine" light. It seems to do it more when the engine is cold than on a warm start. It is a bladeless key car.

Also, there is a low level hum from the engine when accelerating at low rpms. Whats that about? Is that normal?

Thanks

I'd be suspicious it is a DAS problem caused by an intermittently bad key. Do you have another key you can try using for awhile?
