In my 1989 300SE with the same m103 engine, I get around 320mi on one tank with a mixutre of highway and city driving. Not the best, but the ride in these big w126s is pure bliss! Does not exactly answer your question, but i sometimes find that what people are getting is more helpful than the stats because the stats are for cars in optimum condition, and my w126 only has cosmetic issues and a high idle.

I've been getting about 22 mpg in my 300SE. Interestingly, I also get about 22 in my Ford.

Not really a manufacturer's spec but the EPA rating on a 1990 300SEL was 16 city/19 highway - pretty bad by today's standards. EPA ratings back to 1985 can be checked at: www.fueleconomy.gov then "Find and Compare Cars".

I think the scale there is a little off. Not much though.

I always thought my car got poor mileage. I hear other 300SD owners getting upper 20's. My car around town gets 21-22 and on the highway gets about 26. It is funny to see the comparo between the CA version and the federal.

I know it is a little off because when my Soob was a little younger I remember getting almost 30 on the highway. They have my Soob as getting 24.

I'm getting high 'teens in town and low 20's on the highway. Lowest tank ever was 17.8 (All local with A/C running).
Highest was 28 (All highway, cruise set on 70, and lost about 1000 ft. altitude over 225 miles).

Driving style has a lot to do with MPGs. I can easily get an additional 2 or 3 mpg out of a tank if I just stay out of the accelerator. Needless to say, this requires great self control and is not easy.

In my 1989 300SE, the best road mileage I have ever gotten is 24 mpg. More often, though, it hovers around the 21 mpg range. Around town, it is CONSIDERABLY worse.
