Ok. I have the heater core replaced, just have to finish putting some things back together. Now on to the head removal. Any suggestions? Do I have to leave the intake manifold on and remove the carb? '88 190E 2.3L.

Kodiak,
The reason no one has responded is that there is no carb on your car. I would leave the intake in place and remove the exhaust manifold and head together. |
The way I do it is remove the nuts attaching the exhaust manifold to the head and the bolts attaching the intake to the head. You will have enough room to remove the head without any damage.

Thanks guys for the help. I took it off today the way Stan suggested. Its off and the valves look like hell. Benzmac, It sure looks like a carb, is it fuel injected? Pretty sad I don't even know. At any rate, now with the timing chain. I pulled the pins that hold the chain guide in place but what about the chain? I marked the link correspondence to the cam gear. How do I get the distributor where it is supposed to be in relation to the rest of the stuff? Thanks for your previous posts. This forum is the most valuble tool that a do it yourselfer can have in his toolbox. Thanks again
