Need fresh ideas on rear spring change-out W210
 
Here's the dilemma. The Eibach springs I am trying to install in the rear of my 1999 W210 car are so tightly wound that I can't insert the tool far enough up. So, I can't compress the spring adequately (BAUM) to get the darned thing installed.

I hear some folks mention they disassemble rear suspension components and permit the control arm to swing down. I am not sure if this is an option or how invasive it might be.

Simple.
Support the rear control arm with a jack, near the inner pivotpoint.
Remove the pivotbolt.
Drop the controlarm VERY slowly.
Done.
You DO NOT have to remove anything else, i.e. shock, swaybar, etc.
Takes 15 minutes per side. ;)

Manny, thanks for your comments. I started to take that bolt out yesterday and something stopped me (partially due to time invested in job). I was saying to myself, "I know I can remove the bolt, but what are the chances you'll ever get the it back in place?" Then I stopped and buttoned it back up. :o

I think I'd still have the spring compressor in place when doing this (again). Do you think it's necessary?

I know exactly what you mean.
Forget the spring compressor.
When you jack the arm back into place & need to align the hole with the bolt, just use a punch ( centering punch ) to get it 100% lined up.
It's really no big deal. ;)
