I got into one of those shopping moods and ordered all kinds of crap I dont need. One thing was a Euro lights for my 92 300D 2.5.

The lights are coming in the mail soon and I need to know the wiring procedures and installation procedures for them.

Is there any way I can keep the outer looks of them and install a xenon kit inside them? So I get the euro looks but xenon effect you know? I have seen the "xenon bulbs" and they look fake and cheesy.

Also the bulbs are not included with the purchase, so what kind of bulbs do I need to pick up?

Are there fog lights with the European headlight assemblies?

Rumor is, my headlight washers wont work, unless I buy a "european headlight conversion kit" as well, is this true?

I have the issue Of "Star" magazine that features a very detailed description of how to install the European HLs. If you need I can make copies and fax them to you.

I'm not positive but, I don't believe Xenons will work in those HLs.

You can get any wattage bulb that you want. Even the factory bulbs will fit. The article I mentioned goes to the extreme by having the capacity to burn low beams, high beams, and fog lights all at once.

Yes, you get foglights.

That's correct. The European HLs are bulkier I believe and the US HL wipers won't work. You can get the replacement panels that go under the HL without hole for the wiper shaft.

Johnson Chan:

The wiring and washer/wiper issues are pretty well discussed in these threads
Procedure to convert connectors for Euro headlights
Headlight Wipers & Euro Headlights
You will be replacing your US connector with a Euro connector. Barrie describes the wiring, and has a good description of how to adapt your old wipers to work with the new lights.

As far as bulbs, you use H4 bulbs. If you want the most light, try the Osram Silver Star or Philips Vision plus bulbs. http://www.fosmo.com/ If you want a blue light, each of these companies makes a Blue Vision version. On any bulb stick to the standard wattage unless you add relays and larger guage wire. Your H3 fog light bulbs from your old lights should work, but will no longer be yellow. If you want yellow for better fog use, Hella makes some 'Dichroic' coated bulbs that look white to oncoming traffic, but are yellow on the ground. They work very well.

Hello Chowpit and JCE, thanks for the replies.

I have the issue of the STAR (I see your a member of MBCA too).

I think they are going a little too extreme in that article. Adding all the relays and headlight switch, etc. I dont think I will be doing all that, I might depending on the results I get with these lights. Thank you.

I will also check out those postings that you mentioned JCE. Thanks.

If there are any more opinions, etc. feel free to post...
