has my 560sel been lowered?
i am still working out all of the bugs on the 560sel i purchased. now my question is has this car been lowered? someone took the hydrolic suspension off the back and the oil pan seems low, compared to my 380sel that i am parting out. so what are the specs for height and can you tell by the springs?

post a pic and we can help tell for sure.
my 560 has had the rear hydraulic shocks removed too. the whole car sits high- I hate it.

Check with Brian Carlton in Diesel Discussion. He has collected a lot of fender height measurements in his quest to restore the ride height in his 126.

If it has been lowered, it probably would be a good idea to have a MB factory skidplate put on to protect the pan. The 126 skid plates are not expensive

Well, they run about 160 or so plus hardware..
Even w/ lowered 126's you Really need to try hard to smash the oil pan. Only once did I squash one.. Running a yellow through an unfamiliar intersection, right as I was about to go through I look down...Uh oh...WHAM... Didn't break/crack the pan but it was less then a month old which was frustrating. If the wheels fill out the wells nicely/like a modern car your car is most likely lowered.. You can always check the springs. If they are black, wipe some of the grime off looking for an H&R. If they are Red or White you have AMG springs. There are some other options for springs but I'd wager that's what you are most likely going to find. Jonathan

i will get some photos and post them it has 16" rims and yes the back tires fill out the fender wells. so the springs have different paint markings on them?
