How much play in a clutch fan ?

When i grab the fanblades ( at 3 & 9 o clock position ) and push/pull them in & out, I can get about 1/4" wiggle.
Something to be concerned about or check for?

I'm not familiar with the M111 but if the clutch fan is attached to the water pump, check that the play is in the fan, clutch or water pump. Tactile play in the water pump shaft is a big red flag.

There should be no play in the fan clutch.

None. Check the source. It can be both a fan clutch and a water pump or either. When you look down wiggle ever so slowly from one end of the play (3) o'clock and back (9) o'clock. If the play is limited to the shaft extension after the 4 mounting bolts, it is just the clutch. If you can go past seeing it move at the clutch shaft and then even more to notice a wobble at the water pump shaft then it is both. I have seen very slight amounts of water pump play last 50k miles but you have to stay on top of it. If you get under the car and look up at the seal drain hole and see ANY signs of leaking, you need to replace the water pump if it exhibits any play at all. Contrastingly, If the is play in the clutch, it should be replaced right away. They have no set trend and can fail catastophically at any time.
