Hello all, I just picked up a 1985 380SE at a local auction. This is the first Benz I've owned in over 25 years. With the odometer showing 232,000+ miles, it does have a few (ahem) minor problems. Even CarFax doesn't show any history on this vehicle until the odometer was at 192,000 miles.
First and foremost, the throttle linkage was in pieces and looks to have been completely mis-adjusted. Driving it home, the tranny wouldn't even up-shift without taking my foot off of the gas. The pedel itself was nearly 90 degrees vertical from the floor board.
I went to a salvage yard and obtained the plastic shaft bushing, along with the insert and clip. After installing it, there was a world of difference. The pedel was still sloppy with no "easing" to speed and the tranny actually did shift automatically, though it felt like a draft horse kicking the car at every shift point.
What I really need now is tech help in setting up ALL the linkage for the engine, from the pedel to the throttle body, including the cruise control.
I know this will be a project car, but seeing as the body appears to be in decent contition, with just a spot of rust on the rocker panel, I'll try to restore it.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Haffie
