The 560SE I believe was made from 1988-1991. They were the rare bunch in the 560 family.

This is my first time seeing a RHD version of the 822 optioned(high output) 560 motor. Can you make anything out on the label stuck on the valve cover? I believe most of the UK versions are this version. The exhaust manifolds seem to be differerent in shape than the ones I have, but I think this could be due to the placement of the steering box.

Incidently how are the cylinders numbered from the front?
The manifolds are strange, one side is different from the other.
the Rh side is front most cyls together and rearmost cyls together.

the reason i asked about the dizzy was because i heard from someone that chevy v8's use the dizzy to power the oil pump? sounds mad to me, is it true? do mercs use the same idea?

the cyls are numb from right front[drivers side where you are] with 4 being at firewall and on the left num5 with 8 at firewall.no merc drives the oil pump with small chain off crankshaft.

ive been attacking it quite a bit the last few days, but have another question but this time to do with a rear suspension unit from a W203. (i think its from one of those anyhow ;))should start a new thread?

And yes, American V8 engines (and many others) do drive the oil pump from the distributor shaft. That's not entirely a bad idea, as it imposes a nice load on the shaft so you don't get any gear lash affecting the ignition timing.

right basically i need an axle for what im doing, something that can take the torque the 560 engine develops.
would the rear axle from a c200 merc be up to it?
ive got one available to me for peanuts, does anyone have any figures of what it should be able to handle?

im aiming to directly couple the gearbox output to the diff, no propshaft.
