Hi there Members!

I have been told that there are aftermarket BodyKits that will do the job of giving the W-140 FACELIFT to a W-220 for the front end only by replacing Fenders/Bumpers/Hood/Lights etc. Can any member advise where and whom these aftermarket bodykits are available from? Thanks.

W-140 to W-220 Frontal FaceLift????????

Hi Guys!

This is no joke and I have seen actual pictures of such a Modification!!!!!!!! The front looks exactly a W-220 but the rear is still a W-140. I'll try get pictures and make you guys drool as sson as I get the pics. However the cost of such a facelift costs around US$10,000!!!! quoted by the source here in Singapore. I am trying to get to the manufacturer of such parts for a cheaper option, Know what I mean!!!!! Hey guys the car actually look refreshing and quite handsome so to speak.

There is such a thing, though I will strongly recommend not to.

However, if you are still keen, it comes with either a panel of fibre glass, or aluminium panels. Your preference. Someone has actually converted a W124 300CE to a 300SL.

Crazy.

If you're still keen enough to be crazy, I could just source the link for you.

Yo Chris, do ask all you want of them, but don't tell them the price of US10k. It ought to cost less in our local currency.

While you're at it, you might as well ask about the rear too. They can do it for a song.

But pray, do think it over.

If you're in Singapore, I might just suggest you get a Chairman, and change over some finer aspects of re-modelling. After all, the Chairman does have some resemblance ain't it?

Post us the pic when you've really decided to go with the change - before and after.

Hi YMSin!

I have just been to their website and I must say they are very innovative group but the finishing is alot rougher than I percive coz from the pictures you know its not a precision job!
Hey the ones I mention of are very professional and they are all postformed steel just like the real thing that is Fenders/Hood etc etc.
They are from Germany or UK and the conversion will really put you off your seat! The photos are just like Original catalogue type.
I must say for US 10K one will be satisfied parting that kind of cash!I'll try to get photos tomorrow and get it posted here. What can I say see for yourself guys! Cheers.

Yes Chris, the finishing leaves much to be desired. However, you'd be surprise how well they'd turn out once they've been through the owen and a new coat of paint.

This is where Longston said "There is an ancient saying that probably goes back to the stone age: "you get what you pay for".

Hi YMSin!

Hey the Daewoo Chairman is no where near the real thing and for the kind of money that you part its not worth it coz theres this question of quality. The finishing that is but you still do get the old W-124 Platform and the Mercedes Badged over the engine coz mechanically its a Merc the engine that is. Between SingDlrs of 160K I'll go for the US10K facelift!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You save the balance 90% and you have the real thing Merc that is.
The only question is from the legality point of view coz its a W-140 registered model not a W-220 impersonation.
Have fun till you see the pics.

Legally, as long as its done within the confines of an auto-MB enthusiast, and purely for hobby, you're all right.

But it would be different had you with malice constructed a W220 from a W140 with intention to deceit with fraud and misrepresentation blah blah blah with an inducement to lead a third party to think that they paying for a W220 ....

Then in such a case, you're in deep deep *****.

Hey guys,

I have seen cars with these kits before, they are basically parts off a S220, modified in some way to fit the 140, I think they look cool, but I dont recomend doing it either.

A trained eye can tell once they get inside the car, or when they look at the trunk. A 140 and 220 interior is totally differnt so is the size, body style in the back, etc. to do a full conversion would cost a fortune.

I guess you could fool people who dont know much about mercedes, but like you said, hobbie is ok, fraud is not.

Speaking of front end conversions, here's a beautiful one that was done in Japan.

http://member.nifty.ne.jp/VIPCAR/toyama/22.jpg

At first glance, it seems like a W140 Coupe. But look closer.
