heat shrink tubing on wiring harness?
What is the typical temperature inside the engine compartment of a car e.g. W124 ? I am looking to insulate the wiring harness to prevent shorting and grounding problems. I am thinking of using heat shrink tubing or something similar but not sure if it can withstand the heat. Anyone dealt with this issue before? how do u go about it?

What engine do you have? There really aren't any marginal 124 wiring harnesses - they tend to be either a) bulletproof, or b) completely worthless, which would tend to make the project either unnecessary or utterly hopeless.

2.6L V6 inline. That's the one that sits right now in my 1987 260E, at least that's what my mechanic says anyway, although it might be a 3.0L for all I know. |

Well I am trying to nail down the problem with the right flasher. When i do a right turn signal, the front right doesn't blink (it just shines bright), but the back right blink really fast. I figure the first thing to do is to make sure all the grounds are connected properly and all the wires are seal, ie. no shorting to anything.

Go to Waytek Wire.
They have vinyl tubing that doesn't shrink, i.e. is not heat-shrink tubing.

It's an inline six or I6, not a V6. That engine, 103 motor, whether 2.6 or 3.0, has no history of engine wiring harness problems. Your blinkers would not be on the engine wiring harness anyway. Whatever wiring problem you are trying to address I'm sure heat shrink tubing woud work fine.
