96 W210 - Flashing Red and Green lights under rear view mirror.
I can't find my manual so I thought I would ask you guys here.
MY car has a red and green light under the rear view mirror. Lately when I use the remote and unlock the car, I noticed that the lights came on flashing similtaneously. Is this warning me that the main battery is going bad? I haven't had any problems with the battery that I know of. Thanks. |
I believe it's telling you to change the battery in the key.

Change the battery in the key. ;)
What have you got to loose? |

I wonder if the service guys at my local MB dealership would give me the answer over the phone. I am sure they will try to get me to make an appointment but I will try none the less. |
Based on my source ( a german forum ), flashing red/green lights are a sign of key battery or vehicle battery saying goodbye.
|
Your source is wrong, alternating flashing of the red and green lights indicate an unauthorized start attempt.

just change the batteries & get it over with!
|
The flashing at the same time I also believe means weak remote batteries.

OK, I changed the batteries in my remote and so far so good.
Hope it stays that way. |

Update
Still got the problem.
I've change the main battery in the car and the key and I still get flashing when I use the remote to unlock the car. It happens every once in a while but still bothers the crap out of me. Anyone have any ideas? |
Your car has become possessed??:silly:
|
This happened once in y 1997 E320 and I did not understand it. I did not change any battery and it has not happened again. Weird.

I have no other problems so this is really frustrating. |
1996 E230
Im having same sort of issues with dads E230. Red and Green flash alternatly when trying to start the car.
We only have two keys, both of which are not the original key (they dont have the fob with buttons - just plain old keys) We have never had the original key since the car was brought. The battery was disconected now wont start. Is there anything we can do without buying a new key? |
You are having a completely different issue. The original poster specifically denied alternating lamps.
Alternating red and green lamps means that you have a drive authorization failure (DAS). Try locking and unlocking the car with the door cylinder. |
flashing alternating red and green lights on rear view mirror
When my 96 E230 did this, the engine would spin over and would not start,
I changed the box of relays (K40) inside the electrical box ( although mine had a K3 sticker on it part No "A 210 540 04 72") in the engine bay, this fixed my problem. At another time I had flashing red and green (simultaneously) , that was a nearly flat 12v battery under the rear seat, (I replaced the battery, that fixed that problem) |
