81 126 power seat problem

I`m having a problem with my power seat it won`t move at all. I have power to the connection under the seat. looks like there are 3 motors under there . They couldn`t of all gone bad at the same time could they? you`d think the seat would move in at least one direction. any idea`s? it`s got a new switch. Thank`s Rick

same car here but one year newer (82), my situation is where I can hear the motors running but no movement front and back, but the reclining motors work fine. I have tried clean the rails and lube them but to no avail. I was able to move it backwards manually using grip pliers, but won't move forward electronically or manually even using grip pliers. Again the reclining motor works but the forward and back on the rails are stuck, I have left the seat in my garage upside down. Any help for us with seating issues especially for our passengers. Tried a search and landed on this one that was close to my situation, unless someone finds a better search results. Thanks.

We all assume you checked the fuses right? My fuse blew when I had the seat all the way forward for cleaning.

Most often, when you have a good seat switch and good seat motors but can not get them to cooperate, you have fatigue in the wire harness that flexes between the door and the body of the car.

As a test, switch on power at the ignition. Operate the seat switch at the same time open the door. Or sway the door back and forth as you are still operating the switch and see if the seat comes alive...even for a second.

One or more severed wires in the harness is the cause.

Seat electrical connectors

I got my seat to function again by cleaning the electrical plug connectors under the seat.
