after washing my 300E yesterday my trans started acting funny. it would always start in fist gear and would not shift into overdrive. i tried to let it dry out with no luck. the last thing i tried solved it. i shifted it into neutral at 50mph and back into drive and the problem went away. what caused this to happen? is this bad? it has not happened since.
thanks!
adam

Something got stuck

Stuff like this does happen from time to time. Helps create and maintain the mystique of automobiles. Whatever it was, Adam, you found the fix. If it happens again when you next wash the car, then something is getting wet for sure. Great piece of diagnosis and repair

No matter what you fix, there will always be something else to fix..
"Warranty" is just another way of postponing the inevitable.
