Would like to bid on this, but

Hey, here we go on Ebay again. This one ends about 26 hours from now. See it here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&viewitem=&item=180065059866

The car is about 20 minutes from where I live. But the seller will not let me see it. Three times I have Emailed him to meet his schedule to look at this car, but I don't think he will oblidge. I have asked him twice about underbody rust, and again the request go unanswered. What do you recomend? The pictures don't show alot. Gee, most anything looks decent from 40 feet. Do all these sedans have SLS rear suspension. I was kind of looking at this car to put a 300 Turbo Diesel in it, but then I would have to get one with that in or on the head. Sorry to ramble on this paragraph, but I also asked if he had any paper on the recent tranny work and no answer on that either. He does recieve my emails and answers the ones he wants to. Give me your thinking, guys.

If he wanted to sell it he would respond. Maybe he thinks you are too knowlegeable, and doesn't want to deal with that. In other words,,, stay away.

From what you describe, it sounds like he really doesn't want you to see it in person.. He does have 100% pos feedback, but for only about 1 year.. However he has sold a car and a tractor :P recently with positive feedback left for those transactions.

As of right now, you've still got a day to get a hold of him before someone else snatches this jewel from up under you. ;)

Personally, from what you've said about living so close to the car and the seller "selectively" ignoring your requests to see it in person should raise a red flag.

Having said all that, at $850 and no reserve, the car is most certainly worth that in parts alone.. Especially since it runs and drives. However, getting it to pass an emissions inspection will probably be an adventure in economics. :D

You do realize that it is a grey market car, yes?

i have bought 3 w124's through ebay.....i find that i have a hit when an owner has some service records....sounds reluctant to sell...and usually gets ed off when you question why they want to sell...

....then you have a starting point... i have won the bid twice....and the other time...i negotiated the price... that one is the best....

Looks to me as though you should assume worst case on anything not plainly visible in the photos.

Forget it.

Merry Christmas:)

forget it.

it looks nice in the pics. looks as if it were green before becoming the batmobile.

if they all tic why mention it in the description?

as far as i am concerned the bid given so far is about right...without a personal look,

270k showing on a eurospec car could be anything.

tell him if it is still available after the auction is done you would like to come look at it.

If you're that close and the seller won't reply to your emails I would stay away from the car. Especially since this guy looks to be a dealer of some sort. Pics are pretty crappy and tell you nothing. A ticking sound sounds like issue with the cams.

Thanks guys, your advice is well taken

All of the comments were appreciated, and collectively you have the same thoughts that I do, and of course I do have a few years experience, about 20, selling mostly new Chebby Trucks. But I think I will follow Tom's advice, and tell him after the sale, (no sale), I still would come to give it a good over, and I'll take my own ramps and creeper along. The guy can't live but 10 to 12 suburban miles from me, just across I69 really. Thanks
