1998 S500 Front Brake Rotor Replacement

Hi,
Is it hard to replace the front brake rotors on a 1998 S500 W140 and can I do it home?I can do brake pads, but have never done rotors.Does anybody have directions and the tools required on how to do this.
-Thanks,
Nilesh

This should be similar or identical to your vehicle...

Pull the calipers off, then all you need to do is unscrew one allen bolt and the discs will come right off. Watch your feet, they're heavy :)

Make sure you clean the surface of the new discs before they go on. I also put a tiny dab of copperslip on the hubs, only a tiny amount.

Parrott, if you're using new rotors bought from a MB dealer there is no need to remove the gray coating before installing them. It's a preservative to prevent rusting.

Thats good to know because I didn't remove it on mine either :)

Some discs are coated in a light film of grease though, so its worth mentioning.
