Question Need help replacing 98 E320 Water pump

I have 1998 E320 with 104K miles that needs the water pump replaced. I want to attempt to do this myself but I need a little information.
Which way do you turn the big nut on the fan assembly to loosen and is there a special tool for the job?
Is there a special bolt pattern that you have to follow on the assembly and what torque specs do you tighten the bolts to?
It does not seem like that difficult of a job, but I have never done this so I don't know.
I there anything else I should replace?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
