Plugs Are Here!!!

Hi All:

Well, I got the new Iridium plugs for my 1987 260E one week earlier than expected. With shipping to Hawaii it costed $16.00 per plug.

After installation, the first thing I noticed was a very high idle. My mechanic immediately took care of this problem. From a idle of 700rpm it idled at about 1800rpm with just a plug change.

Now my idle is silky smooth and the car has some real get up and go. I am very happy with them.

It seems to have a smoother acceleration and I do feel a difference in power. It feels like it has more torque. That I am pleased with. I don't have pinging like I did with the Bosch platinum plugs.

I think since it runs smoother I will have better gas mileage unless my foot has something to say about that. I average about 20-22mpg right now and I will let you know after a few fillups.

Well, that is a wrap for now on the new plugs. I will keep you all posted on occasion on how the wear on the plugs are and if I encounter any plug related problems.

Aloha,
Eric

I have some old IH Diesel engines that have spark plugs in them. Can you figure that out?

Final Verdict

Hi All:

Well, I am impressed with these plugs. My 1987 260E now has a silky smooth idle, smooth acceleration and I now average 25mpgs.

I have picked up 3 mpgs overall. The car is a joy to drive. (as if it wasn't before)

I used the plugs IT16 part number (5325).

My impression, I love them. Well worth the money. They run great but the downside is that it is very expensive.

Aloha,
Eric

If you squeeze a snake REAL hard, you'll eventually extract some oil :)

Ever heard of the placebo effect? Enough said.
