I have read several past posts on this, but just want to confirm I have to have a new regulator.
1984 190E rear passenger door window rolls up and down just fine, but It stops about 2 inches short of being closed. Does this require a new regulator? Thanks Larry 1984 190e 100K |

Larry, this sounds like an adjustment. Most likely is window stop bracket has moved, or the lift mechanism is jamming just before it reaches the stop. You will need to remove the door trim panel to eyeball the mechanism to make the diagnosis. If you get a good up and down motion w/o crunching or noises, you are most likely in need of an adjustment of the mechanism. Check the capscrews that hold the regulator in the door. Good candidates for being loose.

Actually, your first guess was probably right. The plastic guide piece on the vertical bar of the regulator breaks, allowing the metal bracket to 'flip over'. This lowers the effective travel about two inches. You can probably get it back into position to hold the window up until you get a replacement regulator.
