What is procedure to get into area of ignition switch in MB 500 SEL (1985)? I'm trying to fix this car for a quite a long time. Among several other problems (which I already fixed) there is another one: ignition switch malfunctioning ( when i turn it, radio goes on right away, which is abnormal .

I have very limited knowledge on ignition switches

but surely if you remove the instrument cluster and the cover under the dash on the driver's side then you should gain better access to the switch. If your switch on your car has the black plastic around it then be careful in removing it. I got too carried away on mine once and broke the little snap tabs and was not able to reinstall it.

Try using the search option on this forum and you will be amazed at the well of information contained in this site. There should be a great deal of info on ignition switches if searched for. Then again, I could be wrong.

Have a great day!

Before you go pulling the ignition switch. Why do you think that is abnormal?

Ignition switch

I can not start my car now. Fuel pump runs when connected directly, Fuel pump relay works. Neutral start switch is new. Ignition control module is fixed. Before this problem happen, radio worked without any problems . Now, when I turn a key, engine cranks, radio goes on,and fuel pump does not work. Somebody gave me advice to check if distributor send some signals to ICU, it does. Igniotion coil is OK. I checked all accessible wires around for short, ground, etc. The only thing I did not check is ignition switch. If you have any idea what else it can be, please let me know. A.N.
