Electric Windows..so slooow..1998 320CLK
Have a 1998 320CLK which has electric windows that go down as normal and then take about half an hour to rise at about a 'mm' at a time...painfully slow.
The battery has been flat recently....would this effect the windows or is it something more sinister....battery has been re-charged and everything but the windows is working. I'm also sure that I read somewhere that there's a way to reprogram the windows, ie holding down both window buttons and once down continuing to hold the buttons for a couple of seconds....any truth in this...I'm loathe to try as it could end up with me spending the next hour watching the windows rise by a 'mm' at a time:( |
try replacing your battery since other functioning units require power from it.

You probably read something like that in your owner's manual. Look there again for the synchronization procedure. You may need it.

The sliding jaws/rails are probably bone-dry. Remove the door panels and lube them, as well as all other friction points. MB sunroof paste works great. You can apply a coat of wax to the glass too. This helps the windows slide through the wipers quietly.

Vladimir, I'd love to see pics of your Hammer. What's its history?

If you do a search under my name, ie Vladamir, you should find quite a lengthy write up on my Hammer....enjoy:)
