1989 300E Which part is that
Hello all,
Could you please tell me what is the name of the part in the photos. It is located right below the glove box. It is a fan. Lately, it is being getting noisy and loud. What is function of this fan. I have black arrow pointing to the part (fan) in question http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c399/oaouda/1989300E_2030.jpg Thanks alot for your help |
I do believe that is the cabin air fan which draws air over the cabin air temp' sensor and allows the heat setting to remain constant to your 'Temp' wheel' setting.
I think the air is drawn from the reading light assembly forward of the sun roof. There's a little grill up there that gets blocked and causes temp' fluctuations on AUTO. Anybody ? . |
Correct that it is the air temp sampler fan. Mine looked like the fan had been pushed against the motor housing causing it to make noise. I just stuck a screwdriver in and slid the fan out on the shaft a little so it would not touch the housing. No more noise. I had to remove the fan to do this but it isn't difficult. The fan moves easily on the shaft.

Thank you for your replies. I will checked it out tomorrow, to see what it is making this noise.
Thanks again, |
