Synthetic Oil yes....but what grade????
Urgent advise is requested...i need to switch to synthetic oil TODAY, but I'm still not sure what GRADE to buy , 1998 C230 WITH 90K MILES.
Please advise soon. |
Go IMMEDIATELY to Auto Zone and purchase Mobil 1 0W-40.
SORRY I couldn't get back to you sooner. GOOD LUCK. |
wow Ikcris, what took you sooo long????.....anyway thanks so much.
One more question before i go to Autozone, what about Amsoil 0W 40? |
Use the european 0-40 oil that Amsoil has it has the highest spec the Mercedes has out right now, and you will be fine.
|
WallsMart is another source for the M1 0W40 oil.
|
Amsoil's AME 15W-40 will also work just GREAT! (Unless you live in a very frigid area)
Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 is on sale for $0.99 per quart after rebate at Schucks, Kragan, etc. A '98 doesn't really need a 0W-XX oil, IMHO. Cheers! |
Mobil 1 0w40 is always a good choice.
|
As per MB USA:
Vehicles with Flexible Service System FSS or FSS+ starting MY1998 can use 229.5, 229.51 or 229.3 oils. As per Mobil 1 website: Mobil 1 0W-40 meets key industry and car builder specifications for Mercedes MB 229.5 |
