two that I can think of...

1. Some people think that high milage W126 cars are worth the price and others don't. Don't get suckered into anything you'll regret later.

2. Consider the motor to be not rebuildable. It will cost far more than the car is worth. If there is any hint that the motor is not up to par, either walk away fast or make sure you have an expert opinion as to what's wrong.

there are lots of gadgets on the 560s that the earlier 500s don't have.

my 500sec has been less expensive to maintain than a diesel.

and since it runs regular unleaded even though it uses a lot, it isn't much more expensive to drive than a diesel.

Take a look at the buyers guide for the 560SEC coupe click www.mbcoupes.com for some general hints about shopping for the cars, some of the suggestions apply to the sedans as well. They are well built cars, and safe but look for one that has up do date records if possible, and a prepurchase inspection is recommended before you buy one.

bens lover, thats the finest car MB has ever build, less head ache all of the 126 models do not have vacumn doors, check the engine for compression/test and the idling, the rest are routine and easy to do. I have 2 of those 1990 and 1991, they are still serving me perfectly.

Also check the hydraulic rear self-levelling suspension!!! The U.S: 560 SEL had it standard (same as with the wagons) and this system can be expensive to fix depending on what is wrong. Leaking struts are expensive to replace.

Excellent! Post photos of it when you can.

The 1990 was one of the better W126 models, as it was the near the end of that bodystyle. Not saying that the other W126s were bad, because they are one of the best MBs out there- its just that that was the one of the last W126 models. 1991 was the last year.

Enjoy!
