W126 sunroof stuck in "up" position

1986 560sel

Anyone have a fix to close sunroof from UP position? There seems to be something broken as it will not go down and pressure will not force it down. It's as if there's something that locks it in the up position that is not disengaging.

I have searched sunroof issues, however, I did not come across this particular problem.

Motor seems to be fine and something does retract when I push switch backwards, but, it appears that there is something not connected as I can hear internals sliding backwards and forwards while roof remains popped up.

Best regards,

Patrick

Look up a post in my name, you will find three pictures that show the entire system, and some pics of a broken hinge. I think you can take a screw driver and push the broken hinge back to let that corner drop. When you do you will need to bring it to the open position, pop the front four pins down from the door frame, then you can work the panel out from the front top. Close the lid and remove the 4 8mm nuts then lift out the door(lid) Now you can see all the brackets and of course fix the problem.Though you will need to have a place to keep it out of the weather till you can get the parts from Roy.Good luck,JNT
