Champion Non Resistor Spark Plugs
With the scarcity of the bosch brand, Iam looking at
the champion brand RS12YC which is MB listed along with the bosch and the beru brands. Any favorable/bad experiences? |
ABC=anything but Champion!
didn't you learn your ABC's? OF course that "R" in front of the type means resistor. & Champion doesn't use "Yttrium" like Bosch uses for their newer resistor plugs. For MB's use Bosch OR Beru. |
NGK does now have a FEW OE MB spark plug applications...& like I posted ABC!
|
problem is from what i've read so far the equivalent ngr (for HD9DC) is also now resistor type plugs.
btw, the champions RS12YC is listed in my ops manual. wondered why MB would list a resistor plug alongside with non resistor plugs of bosch and beru? |
The WAY Bosch has made those plugs "resistor" plugs WON'T have any effect on their operation. THEY just cost more!
|
mercedes says that you can use bosch f8dc4 plugs [from the 104 eng] in place of the h9dc with no ill effects.

<<prefer NGK's over anything>>
Me too....... I always used Bosch until the last few years ..Seems like I have had quite a few bad ones , specially the ones made in India .. the last couple of sets I bought [ W7DC for my 113] , the insulators would actually spin in the base ..not cool........... I emailed Bosch about it after the second set did the same ,but they claimed they had no known problems and I must have over-torqued them [ like I don't know plug install tech after 45 years] ...which was BS cuz when I brought the first set back to NAPA, the parts guy says , 'Oh, yeah, we have had a bunch of them do that..he gave me a new set , no questions asked and not surprised ..so that tells me something..... |
I am not having a prob finding NGK BP5ES for my 380SL/560SL. Paying more than I should, but no problem.

I've been finding the new Bosch resistor plugs don't sit well in cars that called for non resistor plugs. As such, I bought a large stock or Beru copper core non resistor plugs. Having only run them for a couple of months I can only offer praise. Time will tell how they hold up over the long haul..but given Beru's usual level of quality I'd be amazed if they didn't hold up @ least as well as the Bosch bits.
