Thank you

I think i will probably need it in the morning still. I am kinda a newbie with working on MBs and 8 cyl engines in general. So when I numbered my own cylinders, I started with #1 on the left side all the way back and counted toward the front and then started with #5 in the back on the right side and went forward from there. This may not be the proper way to number the cylinders, so if you would be so kind as to let me know which way you have them ordered in relation to the engine to help me figure this out.
Normally I do one plug and wire at a time, but since i was changing the cap and rotor as well, I just numbered them and thought it would work out. I guess there is a reason why this method is not recommended.
But thanks for the help.

# 1 is back of the engine passenger side.
# 5 is front of the engine drivers side.

Good luck!

Not on an m117. Nor any MB that I know of...
#1 is pass side front (by rad). #5 is driver's side front (by rad). Assuming you have a LHD US/Europe vehicle, not a RHD UK/Aussie one.

Firing order for all M116 and m117 engines is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2. This includes the 3.5 (350), 4.5 (450), 380, 420, 500 and 560 (420 pre-92, 500 pre-86; newer 420s and 500s are m119s).

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the help so quickly! I put the wires back with no problems and she fired right up. This little tune up got rid of the rough idle and rough early-acceleration --- i think she was acting up because of all the humidity these past few days with the rain. But she is perfect now.

THANK YOU!
