94 c220 low idle at stop in gear

Hey Guys,

The 94 c220 that I replaced the OVP is doing fine except one thing. When the car is in drive or any gear, the idle drops to about 500. It does not surge or anything but the car shakes when it is that low, you can put it in neutral and it smooths out. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks

Jason

I have a very similar problem with my car aswell. For sometime the idle would get so low the car would even stall after shaking and in neutral it seems to go back to normal. So far to sure this problem i've swapped my OVP, and this prevented the car from stalling but the low idle and shake continues. I've done my engine mounts aswell, but the problem remains. On my car, when the idle gets really low for example in a Drive Through line up, I use to hear an exhust rattle that i've nailed down to my cat.converter. I don't know if my cat needs to be changed to stop this problem or if its something else. Does anyone thing it could be the timing chain tensioner?

I kinda doubt either one of us need a timing chain tensioner, you should be able to hear that pretty well if it was that. Yea I have never had any trouble with it stalling , just idles low in gear. I just replaced the OVP to fix the Speedometer and Odometer not working and that did the trick, but did nothing to the idle.

Thanks for the reply.
