Streaky Wiper! Suggestions?

Hello everyone,

I just replaced my monowiper on my 190E with a new bosch one and this thing just streaks the crap out of the windshield. Has anyone else ever had trouble with their wipers like this? Any have any suggesstions other than to load the windshield down with wiper fluid and it'll eventually go away?

thanks

kris

Could it be the wiper fluid with the winter alcohol in it?

Bosch is just a brand. Did you get it at the Dealer or at McParts? I always had a preference for the old style blade with the metal insert strips. New ones at the dealer are all plastic and sloppy end to end.

Sometimes there is junk, road film, etc on the windshield. I've found that RAIN-X works great on this, but it's important to follow the procedure on the bottle when using it. Leaking hydraulic fluid/diesel oil from a semi is very hard to get entirely rid of, for example.

Clean it. If that doesn't do it, get a GOOD one.

Another thing that can make for smearing is a windshield that is worn out. After 100K or so, depending on environment and driving speed the windshield gets sand blasted.

New windshields complete with installation surprisingly cheap. The two times I had it done on my 300E's it was like $260 bucks installed. Done in my driveway.

Nothing like a new windshield and a new blade.
