Is a 12 ton press is adequate to do a lower control joint job?

I am thinking of getting a 12 ton press from Harbor Freight to press in/out the lower control ball joint. Is this adequate for the job or should I just forget in and bring it to a machine shop?

It depends on how much use you plan to get from the press. Machine shop rates for pressing aren't that high.

Then there's the issue of having short scraps of rod and tubing for support during pressing. We have a couple presses at work. And even though we have a couple drawer fulls of scraps, we still hunt for the 'perfect' piece.

I vote for using a machine shop.
