the smoothest v8s i have seen are old international truck motors and early cadillac motors from the early fifties.

...well balanced with heavy flywheels.

my 500sec shakes a little. you cannot stand a nickel on the engine while running, which you were supposed to be able to do on the old packard engines.

makes a world of difference. Newer Mercedes probably has similar design too for NVH blocking.



This is what I would say/suspect. The shake I mentioned is "very" sutble but apparent. I don't think it is a mechanical issue, but due to the design of motor support of W126.

When mine started to shake it turned out one of the cylinders was low on compression. Before that no shakes at all.
