any thoughts? 1994 w202 C220 twenty second cranking time
Any thoughts?
1994 w202 C220 Twenty second cranking time, any time it sets more than one hour or more. No fault codes... Thank you. |
no start
Remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator and watch for fuel from the nipple. It shouldn't leak any fuel.

Ok
starts every time, just extended cranking, after setting one hour or longer.

I would check fuelrail pressure.
See if it drops, due to a possible dripping injector. ;) |

whunter, how many miles on the 1994 C220? When were the spark plugs replaced last? What's the condition of the ignition wires? I suspect the fuel pressure would build-up in a few seconds. When was the fuel filter replaced last?

Hi Roy,
Thanks for the info, I actually did this over the past weekend and did find fuel leaking into the vacuum tube. I am going to change the Fuel Pressure Reg on Saturday and see how it goes. Parts replaced so far are: Engine wire harness Two sending units for with relation to coolant temp. (not the one for temp gauge) Air temp sensor I plan to change: Fuel Pressure Reg and than Fuel filter, fuel pump, two check valves, throttle actuator Since I am coming to the US next week, I want to buy a reasonable price OBD code machine. Don’t know what one I need for this car but hope to find something that read fault codes to help make trouble shooting easier at home. Currently I take my car to a shop and he charges Eur50 to scan for codes. I appreciate your follow up. I wll keep you posted as soon as I complete my task over the weekend. :EDIT: Current Mileage: 155, 500 At 148, 000 miles: Spark plugs changed Wire changed Fuel filter At 135,000 miles: Mass Air Flow meter replaced Regards, Pran |

This is the scantool I bought a couple of years ago. http://www.troublecodes.net/articles/equus/Equuis_OBD_II_code_reader.shtml Works great on any OBD II vehicle. Should cost about $ 125.00 USD. ;) |
Wow, I'd like to see a picture of it & a detailed description of it's capabilities.

My tool is for OBD II vehicles.
I believe your model year is still OBD I. That would mean another method of retrieving fault codes. ;) |
i am really confused, how do I determine OBD I or OBD II

I have changed my Fuel Pressure regulator and my long duration of cranking problem has been resolve. Thanks a million to whunter for guiding me through this challenge.
I have also looked under my hood of the c220 1994 and on the emission label is state "OBD II certified" and under the drivers side there is a 16 pin connector. So now it's time for me to buy a good OBD II Scanner. |
