W202 SRS light reset - any ghetto method?

Did some research and I'm suspecting that my SRS light is on because I had my key in ON position once before I plugged the gauges back together..... I had to do it to unlock the steering wheel to let the gauge out..... now I'm stuck with the light....

is there any non-dealer-involvement way to get the light off?? disconnect the battery for a day? Anything like that??

it's 1995 C220.

thanks.

The only "ghetto" method of turning the light out is removing the bulb. If that is not satisfactory for you, you will need to see a dealer or indy mechanic equipped with a scanner that can reset the light. A standard OBDII scanner (the type you would purchase for home use or find at Autozone) won't work.

or a piece of black electrical tape over the light.

Can you read codes from the 38 pin connector? If so SRS is pin 30. Try reading the codes and then deleting them - can't hurt.

Thread from the dead, but I have the same exact issue: had to unlock the steering wheel to get my instrument cluster out, now have an SRS light after startup for about 2 minutes. I can live with this for a while, but eventually need to get it fixed. Like a dummy I forgot to disconnect the battery first - lesson learned.

I don't mind taking the car to an indy - but would like to reset on my own if possible. Could anyone please help?

OP has a '95 202 which isn't on the application list (not DAS3). ppatti should confirm before buying.

Sixto, thank you. About to take the car out of winter storage, will contact an Indy soon if I can't find away.

Thread is long dead, but it seems a ghetto go-to does exist for this:

on eBay, search "Mercedes w### seat occupation emulation sensor"

I have ordered one for my w210 and will report.

The ones on the Bay are from China. There is also a German accessory company selling a similar one, on their website, for 5x the money and shipping. Your call.
