85' 190e 2.3 won't start?

Car has been setting for 2 months. The stater does'nt seem to engage? How difficult is it to replace the starter? Car has 286k on it, but looks maintained.

I would say it's a battery problem. Try to charge the battery first.

Make sure the battery is good...charged, etc. I just replaced the starter on my '93 2.3 two weeks ago. Yes, it's a PITA, but I did it myself and of course, once you've done it it's easy.
If yours is like mine, there is a connection at the firewall on the drivers side...it's a black connector that comes apart...the wire color is purple. If your battery is good and the connections at the starter are good, then I would check the connector on the side coming from the ignition (the other end goes to the solenoid) to make sure you have 12 volts when trying to start the car. Mine did but the solenoid wasn't engaging. I removed the starter and took it to Autozone to be tested and it failed. Put in a new starter and it now turns over much faster than it used to.
If you need intructions to remove the starter, let me know.

Good luck,

Dave
