Surging Cruise Control - 92 300E
The cruise control on my new (to me) 300E with 118k miles on it is malfunctioning. When I attempt to set a cruise speed it immediately floors the throttle for a second and then surges pretty severely. I can't keep it on for more than a few seconds.
Can someone tell me the various components that comprise the CC system and where they're located? Are there any usual culprits that can cause this kind of problem? Any easy fixes to attmept first before digging too far into it? Thanks |

Pull the air cleaner and lubricate the cruise control linkage before going any further with this.

My '91 did the same thing. The problem turned out to be the control unit under the dash.

Thanks Larry, I'll do that this weekend
Brewtoo, Did you replace the unit or repair it? I recall reading something about resoldering the leads on the circuit board. Can anyone answer the second part of my original quetion about the various components of the system? I'd like to be able to just do quick check on them and clean connectors and the like. Thanks again. |
