How to Remove Center Console?

Hello all. I have a 1986 420 SEL that I need to sell, but the driver side window does not work. Needless to say, that makes her a bit hard to market. I'd like to remove the center console where the gear shift is and clean the switch contacts before moving on to more difficult troubleshooting. Any help or advice on removing this console to gain access to switches will be much appreciated.

remove the ash tray unit, then the coin tray, then the wood will slide forward and up

almost right carson but not quite, you have to take out the ash tray (your right to this point correct) you will need to unscrew the 2 tapping screw located underneath the ashtray location, then you can slide out the wood panel.

To remove the console where the window winder buttons are located you need to lift up the carpet where it touches against the wood. There are two screws under there. Glue the carpet back down again when you're finished. The leatherette gear shift cover on my car pops up and out after a bit of prying with a blunt screwdriver, once you have it off pull it over the gear stick head, loosen the nut holding the head onto the stick and then turn the gear stick head counter clockwise to get it off.
