I got into my car this afternoon, put my key in, and couldn't turn it! I thought the steering wheel was locked, so i jiggled it... DID NOTHING. I kept lightly jiggling the key and finally it started. Then it happened again, when I went into the car this evening. It is getting difficult to turn the ignition...
So here goes- Does anyone know, or reccomend a way to replace the ignition cylinder lock? Will i need to replace the dashboard? Do i need any special tools? Any advise is greatly appreciated! I see that the part is not all that expensive... I hope it is something i can tackle in an hour or two! Thanks Guys! There is a "special tool" to remove the black ring around the tumbler.
When the key is at position 1 you push-in on the black ring & turn 1/4 turn counter clock-wise. Then you pull the key, tumbler, & the black ring off. Takes less than 10 minutes with the correct tool.
