W202 oh snap! messed up the steering wheel harness

hey guys,

I removed the steering wheel to get to my faulty high beam flasher stalk to "violently excercise it" to no avail. I tried to put it all back together it all went rather too smoothly and I tried to drive the car

back it out of the spot turn the wheel

oh *snap*

apparently I turned the "harness extensioner coil" unit by a round left or right when I installed it and that was the sound of my horn and airbag disconnecting from the main harness of the car. Removed the steering wheel again and sure enough the coil has snapped where it exits the circular wire loom.... that loom is now just rubbish and to the trash it went.

I searched fastlane but I can't find that part is it a dealer only replacement part??

That thing looks expensive... :behead:

I found the part number of it from a Russian MB parts catalog.... anyone knows if I can find it anywhere other than Mercedes themselves? :(

You need to start calling the reputable online part sellers. They often can get things that are not listed on the websites but you just have to ask.

it's 160CDN from MB dealer....

considering that a signal stalk from indie seller is 140 I don't think they can do much better.

and MB has it today in a few hours..... I guess lesson learned... :behead:

It's otherwise known as the airbag clockspring.

replaced the clockspring and it all works fine now

airbag light is on all the time tho now I guess I'd have to pay MB another visit to clear the codes...
