Angry 85 500sel no power at my fuel pump

I got off work jumped on I-5 passes some trucks at 75 mph then NOTHING my damn car dies and i now start cutting off cars and trucks i've already passed to make it to the side of the road.
I broke out my DMM and i had no voltage to my pump w/ ing. on.
so i replaced my relay, didnt solve problem. my dad picked up a fuel pump assy. from a local merc wrecker when all i wanted was an ign. switch.
i bought a new ign. switch and now im stumped on the proper disassembley of the column. thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hi,
Sorry if it sounds like i'm stating the obvious, but were you checking for voltage at the pump with the engine cranking? The engine needs to be turning for the fuel pump to energise.
Have you tried bypassing the fuel pump relay? If it works then, maybe your fuel pump relay is shot, or your not getting the tachometer signal to it.
The tach signal is supplied by the ignition module in the inner front fender, which gets its signal from the distributor in K jet cars or the crank sensor in KE jet cars.
