mityvac operation

Wellll, just plugged up my Mityvac per instruction, loosed the oil filter about 3/4 turns, pumped 10 times, but the Mityvac handle will rise and rise and rise, nothing in the instructions about this, tied it down and it worked very nicely, no mess no fuss, on restart hit oil presssure in 1-2 seconds, no leaks, didn't suck with handle up, whats up????

What are you trying to say?

Whata I say

Thanks for the reply, what I was saying is my Mityvac will not operate with the pump handle raised above the tank, it will not stay down after the last stoke of the pump, to get it to stay down I have to tie the handle in the full down position with a string, otherwise it will slowly rise to its full height and not suck oil, is this a fault in the Mityvac or its normal mode of operation, then manual did't say anything about tieing the pump handle down.

That is correct

It is obvious on my Mityvac that the handle is spring loaded and will always return to the out or up position. It would be pretty difficult to pump a vacuum, if after each down stroke the operator would have to manually pull the handle back. Seems pretty normal to me. Are you using the Mity Vac to get a syphon going? That might be possible if you tie the handle down. Again it sounds pretty normal too me.
