Possible fuel starvation issues PLz HELP
I have a 1987 190E 16V
Last year the fuel pump went out and fried the relay in the process. My indi went ahead and replaced the pump and filer. He was able to repair the relay and it has worked fine. A few days ago I was driving and when I was standing at a red light, the engine sputtered 2 or 3 times and then just died. When I tried to start it, the engine would turn over but it would not catch. Tried about 10 min later, started fine, pulled into a parking lot an it sputtered and died again. 10 min later, started it fine, reved it a bit and a min or so later it sputtered and died. When running, it ran smooth, not hic cups or issues. Now it is at the indi again and they have had it idling with no issues. They cannot reproduce the symptoms. My guess was fuel starvation but what do I know. Any ideas? If the pump were to fail, would it cause sputtering? How about issues with the injection pump? Relay? How hard is it to pull a fuel filter? Thanks
