the E series 500(1991-1995) worth it?
 

hello guys,
one of my friends recently mentioned the E500 merc,
i've been lookin for a good car, the best in stability and strength and i checked out a lot on this car,
the model 1991-93 known as the 500E and the 93-95, with a bit of developments and changes, but at a quite higher price, known as the E500.
i wanted to know it the huge difference between the E500 and the 500E worth it, were there a lotta changes does, cuz i just checked out the price and the 93 model was something like 10,000 dollars and the 94 model was like 25000, though there was a milaege difference 82000miles and 60000 miles consequtively.
is the car BMW M5 1992-95 better when compared?
cuz i know that the E500 is already considered a kind of classic series.
and what are the good sites to the used E500, cuz i've been searching quite a lot and there aren't much good deals.

Not sure where you are but in the U.S. it was only 92 to 94. 92s and 93s are 500E and 94s are E500s. There shouldn't be much difference in price between them for comparable cars as it's basically the same car. They do command a huge premium over the 4.2s for the same years that to me seems hard to justify. They also all have generation I ASR which is a bad thing.

This is a question that only a 500E/E500 owner can respond to...as the entry fee (as you mentioned) is a bit higher than what it takes to get a standard W124 series.

From what I've read regarding the driving experience, few have questioned their decision to take the plunge.

Not sure of what issues may plague that particular type of vehicle, but the M119 engine (standard V-8 on the R129 models) is pretty robust (owned a 95 500SL with that engine configuration...bulletproof!).

Those are sweet cars. There are a couple of E500E owners on this board, but it would be best to go straight to the experts. Go to 500E.com. All of those guys have a huge passion for their cars.
