Using WIS to find Component Locations
 

Does anyone know how to find component locations using WIS. I need to find connectors, grounds, terminal blocks and other components. I cant find a way to do this in WIS. I would think it was a basic function.

If you car is listed here, then I find it much better for locating components compared to WIS. WIS seems to just address what to do with the component when you already know where it is located.

That sight seems to be just an online version of EPC in some forigin language. Both WIS and EPC are useless at locating terminal blocks, relays and modules if you dont know wher they are in the first place.

Even my $20.00 107 service CD and my Ford CD's are better at doing this.

Does any one know what terminal block is shown in the attached picture. It's located above the left side (driver US version) footwell area.

The picture may be upside down, Im not sure.

What car model & year...

WIS was designed for 1996 & later cars..For electrical functions, dealers use "Star Finder" and of course regular wiring diagrams.

I recently purchased a copy of WIS, and promptly sent it back. The screens did not fit on my display properly (yes with the correct resolution) and it was marginal at best.

I'm sorry. It is a 1996 SL600. Does Star Finder give you pictures of component locations. The wiring diagrams in WIS are very good. But the phyisical locations of stuff is scattered randomly about and apears to be very incomplete.

For example I cannot find any referance to where terminal block X4/10 is, although I did come across it in a procedure for cranking the engine with a starter switch.

On my Ford CD's I get a table of component locations with links to the pictures.

It took me a while to get used to WIS but I now can work with it reasonably well. Since they came out with the 129 CD I'm hoping that will better. I have not had any such screen resolution problems.
