Sebring has mufflers with AMG like endpipes...

I have also been thinking about this for a while.

I have decided that the AMG style mufflers, may or may not sound very good, you would have to buy one and install it to really see.

I have decided I would rather go to a shop that builds custom exhaust systems for all kinds of cars, that has all the necessary pipe bending equipment and such, and have them put in an exhaust based on how I want it to sound. :)

My brother just had a magnaflow muffler put on his range rover with dual tips, and the thing sounds great, but then again, it sounds liek ti should have sounded fromt he factory, Deep and mean, just like a V8 should sound. :)

I saw a Brabus CL500 today, with the dual exhaust tips on both sides, the thing sounded amazing.

I also saw a brabus C280, full brabus, right down to the body kit, wheels, exhaust, and badges, and the car sounded sweet. The guy took off and was gone so I am pretty sure the engine was modded too, but the car sounded nice and throaty.

When I do my exhaust on my benz, I want it to be throaty upon heavy accelleration and not too loud anytime else. I think the only thing to do is to go to a pro to be able to describe how I want it to sound.

Have you thought about removing the center muffler or resonator on your car and replacing it with a Y pipe?

I think that will give you a little more sound, without being majorly overdone.

Otherwise go with a brand name exhaust, I think those clone exhausts, probably don't last as long or work as well, but they do look great. :)

I saw some nice universal mufflers in the latest JC whitney sports compact catalogue, and found a nice looking one which I like the tips better than the other one I had previously liked.

I don't think you can go wrong with spending a little extra dough on a much higher quality muffler, but like I said I have not heard or seen the amg style mufflers to be able to tell you what they sound like, but I do know the real thing sounds sweet. :)

those are the ones I have seen as well.

I figure they are ok, but you will find that they sell for $100-$130 no matter what.

I've seen some in the JC Whitney Catalog, that look just like those, but with more selection of tips, for I think $125 or $135, so as you can see the price difference is negligable.

I myself would rather order it from the jc whitney catalogue. Than that guy on E-bay.

I had bid on one, and my final bid was like $95. The guy E-mails me after the auction becauseI didn't win it, and offers to sell it to me for $115. I told him maybe, and had him send me the order form and such so I could look at the order form.

I talked to him and decided if I was going to buy it, I'd meet him halfway at $105. I then decided that I would go to a proper shop to get a muffler and work done, because I can get a great deal on the muffler with installation, and have it come out to be very nicely priced, and I know I can trust it. and get a better warranty from a local shop that builds custom exhausts.

I'm not saying that guy selling on e-bay is bad, but don't think you will get it for less than $100 at all.

Muffler

Thanks Ashman
I think you make a very strong point and you are absolutly right about going to a local muffler shop to do the job.I will find out more.but here in Canada its very difficult to get a good deal on performance parts.
Thanks again
Best regards

Sebring

Check with your local muffler shop, though, since you want the support of the person holding the torch. I have a full custom three inch exhaust on my euro 500 SEL and it has been a fair amount of work to get the sound and torque characteristics dialed in. I was worth the work, but it's much simpler on the later cars to go with a quality aftermarket systems that fits and lasts. Sebring is OEM quality.
