W210 trunk wiring ID needed...1998 E430

Hi all,

Looking for the CD changer connection in the trunk of my 1998 E430. This car is new to me, any idea what all these connectors are for? They are all from the driver's side, behind the side panel.

There is the severed wire (first pic)...is this a phone/antenna or is this the CD changer connector missing the tip?

Then there are two female multi-wire adaptors. One has 'ABS' marked on it (the one that looks like a PC serial connector), the smaller one says 'AMP'.

There is also the small thin black wire with a white plastic terminal.

Thanks!
C.

That antenna wire has just about got to be for the phone. Do you have an antenna in the left rear fender?

I don't recall when the optical link was introduced, but the smaller 10-wire connector in the bottom of the second picture looks identical to the connector for the CD player in my '96 (both ends look like that). As for that DB25 and the other thing near it, I have no clue. Perhaps that is an optical cable.

Thanks Matt. Yeah, the 10-pin appears to be the CD connector.

Not sure about the other ones though?

The one you have your hand on looks like the earlier plug and play CD connector. I thought the 98s were all D2B. Easy way to tell is by the radio. If the radio face has the phone key pad on the right side it is D2B, in which case you'll need to remove the trunk liner on the left to keep searching for the D2B cable and electrical connector (3 wire).
The other 2 connectors are for the phone. The coax is for the phone also and the end is ruined/ripped off.

Radio is the Becker 1692 -

So...thanks to all, much appreciated. I have an aftermarket Alpine CD changer (ai-net), which I will be able to hook up to the factory 10-pin via a couple of adaptors. I'm guessing this vehicle had the phone but someone removed it in a hurry...

Gilly - car is stamped 01/98.

Cheers,
C.
